From humble beginnings, we’ve grown into one of Melbourne’s most trusted family-owned access hire companies.
Duralift’s story began as a small family business in 2009, with just ten machines and a bold vision for the future. Duralift has since grown into one of Melbourne’s leading access hire specialists. Today, we operate a fleet of more than 300 machines and a dedicated team that supports construction and maintenance businesses across Melbourne, and beyond.
But the journey started long before 2009. The Duralift family had already spent decades shaping Victoria’s engineering and construction industries. Castella Engineering, established in 1977, specialised in crane design work, followed by Castella Sheet Metal in 1979. Those early years of experience built a deep understanding of machinery, safety, and reliability, values that remain at the heart of Duralift today.
When the family purchased a small access hire company with just a handful of machines, we saw an opportunity to combine our technical know-how with a strong service ethos to create something bigger. Within a year, the business had moved to Merrindale Drive, with 90 machines and three staff forming the foundation of what would soon become one of Melbourne’s most dependable names in EWP hire.
By 2021, with hundreds of boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other access equipment, Duralift relocated to Hosie Street, Bayswater North, where we continue to grow as a proudly family-owned company today.
