It all began in 1966 when entrepreneur Bud Bushnell was experimenting in his garage with pneumatic powered doors. Later Bud Bushnell started his own company, Genie Industries.
The original Genie Hoist was a portable pneumatic lift, considered by many as “Magic in a bottle”, inspiring the name “Genie”.
When demonstrating the Genie hoist at a trade show he came up with the idea to combine several machines and added a platform so that it could hold a man!
The Genie Z – lift with its breakthrough “Z” shape allowed people to be lifted up first, then out-and-over. This new configuration helped customers operate in tighter spaces than ever before.
