Where it all began
From humble beginnings, we’ve grown into one of Melbourne’s most trusted family-owned access hire companies.
Duralift started out as a small family business in Lilydale in 2009. Back then, we had just 10 machines and a very big dream. Today, we’re proud to be one of Melbourne’s leading access hire companies, with a fleet of over 300 machines, and we’re still growing.
But our journey didn’t start in 2009. Long before Duralift, our family was already making its mark in the engineering and construction industries, first with Castella Engineering in 1977 (engineering design work for cranes), and then with Castella Sheet Metal in 1979. We then used our experience and passion to pursue our next chapter, purchasing a small hire business with just a handful of machines and a dream to build something bigger together.
In 2011, we sold Castella Sheet Metal to dedicate ourselves fully to Duralift. Our focus on safety, service and reliability saw us continue to grow. In 2012, we moved to Merrindale Drive. This marked a turning point, with 90 machines and three staff becoming the foundations for the trusted company we are today.
Fast forward to 2021, and with hundreds of machines, we relocated to Hosie Street, Bayswater North, where Duralift continues to thrive as a proudly family-owned hire company today.
From the very beginning, our focus has continued to be on building a business that people can rely on, that puts safety first, delivers dependable equipment, and earns the trust of our customers every day.
