SPANDING OUT OF CROWD - Duralift

7 Ways to Stand out From the Crowd in a Construction Business – Duralift

Do you ever feel like everyone in the construction industry is doing the same thing? Everyone’s newsletters look the same. Everyone’s websites look the same. Same. Same. Same. Which leads to BOREDOM. And bored people rarely ever buy. They don’t run out and tell their friends and family about how wonderfully you bored them.

So take a look at the tips below to see how you can make the first steps on rising above the crowd:

1. Look outside the industry

Find inspiration from outside the construction industry. This will help you stand out when you bring the fresh ideas back into construction rather than being a look-alike of your competitor. Stay true to your OWN brand.

2. Provide a service that is personal

People want to know they are not just a number and that you genuinely care about them. Show them that through your service. You can tell them until you are blue in the face but only when you truly show you care through your actions your customers will believe your voice.

3. Be innovative

Innovation is the key to success in any business. Try to foresee situations and take necessary measures to tackle them from the beginning, or before they even happen. Think of something creative that you can apply in your business and that nobody else has ever thought about or has ever dared to do. Innovation is all about trying new things out that others may find a little risky or  feel that it is not going to make a difference. If you feel that it is going to work for you, you should take the leap. You may come across people who will try to intimidate you by showing the negative sides of your idea but you know your idea better than anybody else does and you should ensure that you put it across to bring a difference in your business.

4. Offer Something that Your Competitors Don’t

By offering a product/service/offer your competitors don’t you will rise above price competition and pretty soon your customers will be referring you again and again.

5. Be ethical and honest

Honesty has now become a virtue. Maintain certain ethics and values for your company and ensure that everybody follows them right from the core of their hearts. This actually sends a message to your clients about your way of working. They indeed want to work with people who are honest with their work and maintain certain standard at all levels. At times, you may have to pay the price for being honest but that will be too less as compared to guys who aren’t with their work or with their clients. Slowly and steadily, you will see yourself acquiring more businesses just because you chose to be ethical.

6. Be Old School

I know that what makes my business stand out shouldn’t be so simple, or old school, but it is. I live by this motto: “Do What You Say You Will Do!” I know it’s not the golden rule, but pretty close to it. I am constantly amazed that my clients thank me for doing such a simple thing as returning a phone call. But, when your friendly competitors take days, or do it not at all, it makes you stand out from a huge pack. All you have is your word, respect it and others will respect you!

7. Provide a Guarantee

Can you offer a guarantee so strong that no one else in your industry would dream of doing it? This one frightens some people but, you probably guarantee your work anyway, you just don’t say so. Come out and boldly announce that you guarantee results and watch what happens!
